Our Pastor
Our Pastor, Charles Telfer, was raised in Princeton, Illinois. The Lord led him to Christ during his senior year in high school. He has degrees from the University of Illinois and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. He has also studied at Jerusalem University College, Westminster Theological Seminary and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (where he is finishing up a Ph.D. in Old Testament). Charles and his wife Rhonda have been married for 25 years, and their children are Victoria (22), John, (21), Samuel (17) and Anna (14). Charles served as a missionary in Northeast Africa for three years, has done short-term missionary work in Guatemala, Mexico, Spain, and Sudan, and served OPC congregations in New Jersey and North Carolina before coming to Westminster in 2002. In earlier years he spent time working as a housepainter, real-estate broker, and taxi driver. He is a fan of J.R.R. Tolkien, good movies (especially foreign films), and enjoys an occasional outing to work on the family farm.
